Readers!

Here we are again at the beginning of a new month, with a fresh new theme: specifically Sex and Technology. Two subjects that are near and dear to be, as not only am I big fans of both, but I without either MetAnotherFrog.com wouldn’t even exist. That’s why I decided to make this, my second post for the month, about some of the many ways sex and tech have intersected in my life. Here we go…

The Good, the Bad and the M’eh (aka My Online Dating Experiences): Now, I was a latecomer to the online dating scene. You see, like many people in love with the idea of finding romantic bliss a la your average rom com, I once believed that the only way I would find ‘true love’ was to meet a man the old fashioned way – in real life. But as time passed and my ‘soulmate’ didn’t literally bump into me on the street, my innate pragmatism won out. With much trepidation in my heart, I created my first online dating profile (I believe in was on POF, ‘cause we all have a profile on their don’t we?) in 2008. I ended up going on a ton of dates, some that were a whole lot of fun, others that were painfully bad, and there were even a few that were so dull ‘m’eh’ is the only word that appropriately to describes them. And through it all I’ve slowly (FML) learned to discern what I want, can give and expect in my relationships with men: lessons which undoubtedly are helping me navigate my way through the goings on in my current situation with my current (to borrow a word from my girl, Sophie Delancey) “associate.” But more on him later.

You’ve Got Naughty Mail: Okay all. Let’s be honest here. Who among us doesn’t love receiving a sexy message from the one you love and/or lust after as you go about your day? From emails to v-mails, sexts to twitter DMs, nothing makes a work day fly by more quickly than having a down and dirty, flirty message show up in your inbox – especially one accompanied by a “get your mojo workin” image (shout out to all my peeps with a collection of smutty pics their phones or computers, safely hidden behind  SpyCalc).

"cybersex"Cybersex Anyone?: Now, although I can’t say I’ve done so recently, often out of sheer necessity (I’ve been in a long distance relationship a time or two), back in the day I dabbled in a little cybersex. And as anyone who has ever engaged in a little mutual masturbation via webcam can tell you, nothing beats seeing and hearing the effect your words and actions are having on your play mate when your miles apart. All praises due to the internet gods and creators of webcams everywhere.

Yes, I Loves The Porn: I confess. I’m slowly becoming a bit of a porn fiend. I mean, if you spend a fair bit of your time each night searching online for sexy images for blog posts, eventually you’re bound to become a real fan of looking at and collecting them (NSFW: click at your own risk). Nuff said.

Without You, Sex, and Technology There’d Be No Us: Approximately two years after my first foray into online dating, Sam, Elizabeth and I decided to start our little blog that could. At first it was we were all about sharing our funniest and worst (sadly those two often show up as a pair on dates) dating and sex stories. But over time, through the power and seemingly limitless scope of the internet, we connected with all kinds of folk who apparently love sex as much as (and in some very rare cases more) than we do. Then based on our own keen, growing and apparently insatiable interest in all things sex, our focus shifted to pushing boundaries and provoking dialogue about why’s and wherefores of various aspects of human sexuality. Through it all you, our fabulous readership, have kept us inspired to keep writing, learning and questioning all we can about our most favourite topic. In essence, this site, which has become, my home away from home, wouldn’t even exist (which means we’d never have connected with all of you out there in cyberspace – horror of horrors!) if sex and technology hadn’t come together in some very concrete ways a few years back. So a big THANK YOU to all of you.
