Once upon a time there lived a beautiful princess. Her hair was as golden as the summer sun; her smile brightened a room like a winter’s dawn; and her laugh was as refreshing to one’s mood as a spring shower. Our princess was happy and wise, she enjoyed her life to the fullest. She lived alone in her castle, entertaining her subjects, and holding spectacular balls night after night.
One day our Princess met a Prince. He was tall and handsome with a good steady job. The Princess enjoyed his company and slowly she stopped entertaining other Princes, Knights and Frogs at her castle until it was just the two of them.
They enjoyed their life, they went to gardening centres and IKEA to buy new tweaks for her castle which was slowly becoming their castle. They went to family events like jousts together as a couple. They sent Christmas cards to their subjects signed from them both. Time passed.
One day, the Prince went down on one knee and he asked the Princess to marry him. “Why do you want to marry me?” the Princess asked.
“For we have been together for a few years and it seems like the natural next step,” the Prince confidently replied.
The Princess pondered. She did like the idea of an ivory gown and a lovely party with lots of presents from John Lewis, but her heart didn’t sing to his reasons.
“Ah. Then, no,” sayeth our Princess. For the Princess was still as wise as she was beautiful, and knew that timing wasn’t a reason to marry and that really it couldn’t be something that the Prince wanted if that was the best he could come up with.
And there were arguments in the Castle that night. On the morrow the Prince left, taking with him his sound system and golf magazines.
And the Princess returned to her life before the Prince, entertaining her Knights and heading out for spectacular balls almost every night. And she lived happily ever after – but this isn’t a story about our Princess.
The Prince was sad when he left our Princess and called her many names. But he moved into a very modern castle near the centre of the city…

Apparently, this is what the Prince did too.
and he bought a motorcycle…
and he left the toilet seat up…
and he stayed out sometimes all night…
and he dated girls half his age…
and he drank beer, and Jack Daniels, and single malts,
and he travelled to exotic places to play golf with his buddies…
and he went to naked bars…
and he went to rock concerts…
and his friends and his family thought he was really cool…
and he had a designer man bag, that matched his designer glasses…
and he lived happily ever after.
~~ THE END ~~
